Q: What academic requirements do you have for the graduate & intern programmes?
A: You don’t need to have a specific type of degree, we are open to applications from all backgrounds (including university, college and bootcamps). We’re looking for people who are passionate about the tech industry and digital products, as well as eager to grow their skills and keep up with the latest digital trends. If you are currently at college or university, you can apply for our internship programme regardless of your year of study.
Q: How long after graduating can you apply for the graduate programme?
A: We don’t have a restrictive timescale for when you need to have graduated.
Q: Are graduate and intern roles paid positions?
A: Yes. All of our graduates and interns will receive a monthly salary, which is consistently benchmarked.
Q: Can reasonable adjustments be made throughout the recruitment process?
A: Yes. We understand that everyone succeeds in different types of environments, so we aim to tailor the activities as best as we can, so no one is at a disadvantage and you can show the best of yourself. If you would like to discuss any adjustments to our process, such as extra time or a different working environment, just let us know and we will work with you to do this.
Q: Is there a deadline for submitting an application?
A: This will vary by each position you are applying for but we will always advertise a closing date in our job adverts. We do review applications as they come in so we recommend applying as soon as possible.
Q: Can I apply before I graduate?
A: For our Graduate programme, you can apply before you have graduated, so long as you have graduated by your starting date with us, as this is a full-time position. Interns can also apply before they have graduated as the programme takes place over the summer (outside term time).
Q: Can I apply for more than one location?
A: If you are open to various locations please mention this on your application but you only need to apply once.
Q: Do you pay for travel expenses for candidates travelling to discovery days?
A: Yes, we do and more information will be provided through the recruitment process.
Q: What does the recruitment process look like
A: Our process for both programmes are 3 stages: apply online, live video interview with a member of our emerging talent team, and discovery day! Our Software Engineering programmes will also require a coding test.

Q: Where are you based / do you accept remote applicants?
A: For our graduate programme, we support fully remote working across the UK and hybrid working, if you're located near one of our two offices in either Leeds or Edinburgh. Our internship programmes are hybrid-working programmes, based in our Edinburgh or Leeds offices. This means we require interns to work in the office for a proportion of the week throughout the programme.
Q: Does xDesign sponsor Graduate or Intern visas?
A: We welcome applications from people throughout the UK, you will be required to have the right to work in the UK with the appropriate visa in place already. Unfortunately, we are currently unable to support visas that require initial sponsorship.
Q: Is the graduate programme rotational?
A: Our engineering programme is a rotational programme. You will begin on an internal xDesign project before exploring a variety of our different teams within Engineering. Our non-engineering programmes will provide graduates with well-rounded project experiences and the chance to gain a variety of insights across the programme discipline!
Q: Any interview advice?
A: It’s always helpful to understand a bit about the company and employee experience, which you can find on our website and careers page. And come prepared with your own questions, this is a chance for you to learn more about us too (and we value curiosity). But most importantly, be yourself! We want to make sure that this is the right opportunity for you, and authenticity will help that.

A: As part of the graduate programme you will receive regular development days and every quarter we will deliver these sessions in person at one of our offices. As our internship programme is a hybrid working programme, interns will not be required to travel out with their home office, unless stated in the recruitment process.
Q: How will I be supported during my internship?
A: We are really invested in our people and want to ensure everyone feels supported and connected with each other from the beginning.Throughout your internship the Emerging Talent team will deliver sessions on Personal & Professional development, to support your learning on the job. You will also be supported by internal buddies and have a technical mentor throughout the programme.
Q: What training can I expect whilst on the graduate programme?
A: We believe in enabling every xDesigner to learn through various opportunities and being on the grad programme is no exception. You will learn through a variety of different projects over the course of your time with us. You will have ‘professional’ skill development sessions and technical sessions available through O’Reilly. All xDesigners have 6 Development Days a year for personal development.
Q: How long are xDesign’s programmes?
A: The graduate programme is 12 months, and you will be a valued permanent employee from day one. The internship programme lasts for 12 weeks and takes place over the summer months.
Q: What comes after the graduate programme?
A: Once the programme is finished, we intend to place you in the right role based on your skills and interests. We work with our graduates individually to shape a career pathway prior to the programme finishing to ensure your journey with us continues to go from strength to strength.
Q: What comes after the internship programme?
A: Once the programme is finished, and you’d like to continue your journey with us, you will have the opportunity to apply for our 12-month graduate programme, giving you a deeper dive into the specialty of your choice and how digital agencies work.
